"I" sucked my thumb @t... Thursday, October 09, 2008

On Sat 13th Sept, we made the visit to Dr Mary Yang. When I called to make an appointment with the nurse, Jocelyn, I expected to have to introduced myself since the last time I was there was in 2006 but when I mentioned my name, she immediately said "I remember you! Congratulations !!" Well I guess they don't forget difficult patients easily !!

In any case it was nice seeing Dr Yang again. She looks younger and younger since I last saw her. One of these days must ask her secret! She glanced my record and noted I had history of low FE so she scheduled a blood test for my next visit. Since my risk for gestational diabetes is also rather high she is gonna make me drink that sweet sampai nak terkencing dreaded orange potion again, also on the next visit. The package I took for Mubarak in 2006 included 1 3d scan (although she gave me 2 free 3D scans) but this year the package includes 2 3D scans !!!

We brought Abang Mubarak along for the gynae visit and of course most of the conversation centred on him. Doc Yang noted he loves books, (he read to her!) and that he was sociable (he called her "Auntie" LOL) and asked me to remember to do everything I used to do with Mubarak in-vitro for this baby as well. (eg reading, talking, rubbing etc) Dr Yang is a huge natural advocate and believes in-vitro interaction has a huge effect on the baby.

When I was lying there on the bed and the doc switch on the huge monitor I was greeted with the all familiar black and white image of my womb. And then came the sound of that familiar horses hooves running ie the baby's heart beat. As usual, The Don stood by my side holding my hand as we watched the scan together and this time the lil' boy sat perced on the edge of my bed as the good doctor showed him the baby and asked him to point to where the baby was. Whatever apprehensions and reservations about being pregnant so soon ebbed completely away when I caught sight of that little pulsating peanut size growth in my womb and that feeling of wonderment, excitement and anticipation washed over me reminding me of that euphoria I felt when I first saw Mubarak on this same screen.

Ya Allah, forgive me for having even the slightest doubt that this gift you are giving us is coming at the wrong time. I realise now that YOU have this all planned and that this time you choose is the best time that we could ever ask for. Insya'allah I will do my best to be the best Umi I can be to both my children and never (Insya'allah) will I ever take sides or play favourite among my children because I realise what huge gifts they are.

* I WAN MY MILK!!!

Even before anything, I have started on the wrong foot ! But I'm gonna set it right I promise, starting from my mindset and right down to every single action, thought and word ! I PROMISE !!!!

We were planning for a 2nd child sometime in 2009 - the later part of 2009, such that when the baby is born, our firstborn Mubarak will be 3 or almost 3, out of diapers, started school and basically out of the way I mean independent ! I was hoping that I could avoid the mother hen situation, with a wailing baby in my arms while the not much older sibling is also crying for attention to be carried. But as you know Kita hanya merancang, Allah yang menentukanNya

I started feeling very tired since mid August. At the dot of 11pm, I will be snoring away and even at work at midday, all I felt like doing was doze off. I thought I must be lacking some nutrients so when I shared this with my Umi, she suggested I started eating her Multi Vits tablets.

Then towards the end of August, nearing the start of Ramadhan, I began to feel uneasy. Sort of like "not feeling like myself" I began to suspect that I was pregnant but kinda had my doubts because we haven really "tried very hard" and the last time we wanted a child, we had to "try really, really hard". But when I puked immediately after buka on day 5 and 6 of Ramadhan I knew this was it. Got The Don to get me a pregnancy kit and lo and behold! Baby M 2 was on the way !!! Syukur Alhamdulillah to Allah s.w.t for blessing us with another child. May he/she be healthy and grow up to be soleh/soleha and useful to the community, Insya'allah. Needless to say The Don was ecstatic and so were the rest of the immediate family when we told them.

I am blessed that with both pregnancies I do not have any morning sickness. I only puke when I am hungry, overeat or when I drink Milo and other milk based products. Alhamdulillah I also do not suffer from any nauseous bouts although for the first 3 months I feel extreme fatigue. Its exhaustion of the max kind. Many nights after maghrib I fall asleep into a deep slumber and don't wake up until its time for sahur the next morning. And all I feel like doing the whole day is to lie in bed and sleep. I can sleep anywhere.. in the car, while watching tv, while at work, even in the loo !!!!

Next .. the 1st gynae check up....
